One of the biggest things that you can do is make sure you only use your credit cards and build up balances that you can pay off every month.  When you use credit cards they are used cautiously you can do well,

but if you don’t your credit card can be very damaging. So be aware. You also don’t want to pay crazy interest rates, and you don’t want to pay annual fees for points.
